A teacher is gearing up to take part in a cycle challenge to help raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West.
Nathan Hayes, from Liskeard School and Community College, will be participating in the Ride for Precious Lives in July.
The bike ride spans 225 miles over the course of three days and will raise money for the charity which provides care and support for children facing life-limiting conditions.
Nathan, who is a former professional basketball player, will be cycling from St Austell to Bristol, tackling challenging terrain along the way.
He will visit three children’s hospices as part of the journey – Little Harbour, Little Bridge House and Charlton Farm.
Accompanying Nathan will be 116 other participants, including his close friend and spin coach, Matt Ishtarr.
A school spokesman said: “We are honoured to have Nathan as part of our teaching faculty.
“His unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of his students and the community exemplifies the school’s core values.
“Together, let us rally behind Nathan and demonstrate our community’s collective power to effect change.”
As Nathan prepares for his first-ever charity event, he is inviting the community to join him in supporting the cause.
