TOWN councillors in St Austell have agreed to spend more than £15,000 on upgrading a special toilet for people with multiple disabilities.
The councillors heard that most of the equipment in the Changing Places toilet in Priory Car Park was no longer fit for use, largely because it was 13 years old.
The facility features a fold-down changing table, an electronic ceiling track hoist, grab rails, a pull cord alarm and an accessible toilet.
Councillors, who were told the equipment had been decommissioned, though the disabled toilet was still available for use, agreed to spend £15,621 plus VAT on a refurbishment and upgrade.
They heard the Changing Places facility was highly valued by people with profound and multiple disabilities and their carers.
