RESIDENTS and carers are being asked for their views on dementia support in Bath and North East Somerset.

Bath & North East Somerset Council wants to hear how services across adult social care, health, the voluntary sector and community organisations can work even better together to help people live well with dementia.

Survey feedback will help shape a new, five-year Dementia Strategy, which aims to make sure people have access to the right information and the right support at the right time, as well as meeting the needs of unpaid carers.

The survey asks residents if and how dementia has impacted their life and offers the opportunity to comment on their experiences of accessing local dementia social and health care support.

Councillor Alison Born, Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: “I encourage anyone who has been impacted by dementia to take part in the survey – your insights and experiences are vital in ensuring the Dementia Strategy reflects the needs of the community and allows every person affected by dementia to feel supported, connected and able to live well.”

Martyn Creeth is a member of the B&NES Dementia Strategy Steering Group and a carer for his wife: “With residents’ help, we are developing a clear strategy so people with dementia, of whatever type, and their carers can access structured help and treatment and are able to live well. Residents’ feedback will make sure the strategy works in practice and improves the lives of those with dementia and their carers.”
