A MAN from Cornwall has been arrested by police investigating the hit and run death of a 'much-loved teenager’ in Leeds.

Ashton Kitchen-White, 19, died after he was hit by a red Ford Focus while he was crossing Middleton Ring Road in Leeds, West Yorkshire, at around 10.09pm on Friday, May 16.

Following a public appeal, Regan Kemp, 26, Liam Miller, 24, and Macauley Martin, 26, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The Ford Focus failed to stop at the scene but police discovered that the vehicle had travelled from Scotland to Leeds shortly before the collision.

Ashton's family have paid tribute, describing him as a "one in a million" teenager who was about to study to become a doctor at the University of Leeds.

They said: "Ashton Kitchen-White was indeed one in a million. Loved by all his family and friends alike and adored by his brother and two sisters.

“At 19 he was about to embark on his journey to become a doctor at Leeds University. He loved going to the gym and combat sports.

“We cannot express the sheer devastation we all feel. Although his life was cruelly taken from us he will always be remembered for the absolutely beautiful soul that he was.

“The family would like to thank everyone for their support and outpouring of love and ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Several people have also paid tribute to Ashton on social media.

One person said: "I went to primary school with this lad and we both sat with each other every day.

"We had some great laughs.

"Such a lovely lad, gonna be missed. R.I.P."

Another person said: "My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and anyone else who was lucky enough to have known Ashton.

"What a remarkable young man who had his hopes and dreams taken away at such a young age.

"This is such a tragic loss."

A 19-year-old male and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on police bail.

They are now no longer being treated as suspects and have been released from their bail.
