On the evening of Thursday, July 6, internationally renowned, Cornwall-based theatre company Wildworks held a preview for its new film, I AM KEVIN.

The well attended event was held in St Austell’s White River Cinema for all who were involved in the project  including cast, crew, community members and support teams.

Afterwards cinemagoers celebrated over drinks at St Austell Band Club where all involved were able to reflect, reminisce and enjoy behind the scenes clips which were shown on a big screen.

Following the preview, the film was officially launched, receiving its world premiere on Sunday, July 9, in Truro’s Plaza Cinema.

It will be screened several times across cinemas in Cornwall until Saturday, July 29.

Since its launch, the film has received strong reviews from film critics at both The Guardian and The Times newspapers.

There are still a few opportunities to see I AM KEVIN on the big screen.

The film will be shown at Regal Cinema, Redruth on Thursday, July 20 at 7.30pm, at the Savoy Cinema in Penzance on Thursday, July 27 at 7.30pm and on Saturday, July 29 2023 from 7.30pm at The Poly, Falmouth.

Each screening will be followed by an engaging Q&A session with a variation of different cast members, creatives and community.

Captured during its dramatic live performances on Cornwall’s Carlyon Beach during summer 2022 but with added extras, I AM KEVIN is a genre-defying, theatre/film hybrid.

Wildworks’ artistic director, Mydd Pharo said: “Both the preview and premiere evenings were just so incredible. It really made me realise what a special thing we have collectively created.

“I think I’m still in shock after receiving a sea of positive responses! It was so important for us to allow those people who helped make I AM KEVIN possible to experience it and we are so glad that we had the opportunity to do this.

“We are so deeply grateful to everyone that has helped make this happen.”
