Callywith College in Bodmin has been recognised for its inclusive approach.

The college has received the Investors in Diversity for Schools Award.

A letter from the National Centre for Diversity congratulated the college staff  and stakeholders on achieving the award following an assessment.

The letter praised the college, saying: “The Investors in Diversity journey and achievement of the standard gives a positive message to all the stakeholders, internal and external, and each person should be congratulated for their input.”

As part of the assessment process, external stakeholders, staff and students completed a detailed survey about their experiences and the way in which diversity is recognised and promoted at the college.

Assistant principal for student experience Jen Temple said: “We are extremely pleased that both our culture of inclusion and positive promotion of diversity have been recognised in this way. Staff and students at Callywith contribute significantly to this on a day-to-day basis, demonstrating respect for the National Centre for Diversity’s FREDIE values – fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement.
