A CHRISTMAS tree recycling initiative is underway in Newquay.

Newquay Town Council has opened a drop-off point at South Fistral car park until Monday, February 23.

The environmental team will take the Christmas trees to be chipped and use the mulch on the flowerbeds throughout the town.

Dozens of Christmas trees have already been dropped off to the designated drop off area. The town council hopes to recycle as many Christmas trees as last year, which was nearly 1,000.
