Newquay Leisure World is giving people the opportunity to try out its new outdoor functional fitness area and gym, plus a wide range of fitness classes, for free on Saturday, February 4 from 10am to 3pm.

There will also be a chance to swim for £3 throughout the afternoon. Booking in advance for all activities is recommended, either through the centre’s website of via the Better app.

The community open day event marks the official opening of the functional fitness area by Newquay mayor Councillor Margaret North at 11am.

“We’re very proud of our new facility which is already very popular with customers,” said GLL senior manager Amelia Kitchen.

“This is the time of year when we all start thinking about getting fitter in readiness for the warmer months to come. To that end, there will be different classes running on the day for people to try for free – including group cycle, aerobics, kettlebells, body conditioning and a legs, bums and tums session.

“You don’t need to be an athlete to enjoy the many benefits exercise can bring. Everyone is welcome and our friendly team can provide advice and guidance as required.”

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is a not-for-profit social enterprise that operates leisure centres throughout Cornwall on behalf of Cornwall Council.
