AN exciting joint concert in aid of the Bristol Children’s Hospital and Cancer Research UK is taking place at Truro Cathedral on Monday, September 29.
Restormel Concert Band, a 35 piece wind band, will be joining together with The Celtic Male Ensemble and Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust Singers for the first time.
‘Celebrating music’, which starts at 7.30pm, will welcome audiences for an eclectic evening of music for all. Restormel Concert Band plays music of all styles from the military band repertoire to modern pop songs.
The Celtic Male ensemble will bring a contrasting feel to the evening with well known male voice pieces as well as more classical repertoire. Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust Singers, fresh from their success at the Hall for Cornwall with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, are a talented company who stage musicals of a high quality.

Restormel’s honouary treasurer Andrew Harvey said: “We have chosen two charities to benefit from this concert. Cancer Research UK is a charity that the band often performs in aid of and once again we’re delighted to be able to contribute to their fantastic work.
“The Bristol Children’s Hospital is a different charity for the band and was chosen because the musical director of the band grandson was born in August in July 2024 with a major heart defect and within 12 days had to have open heart surgery which saved his life.
“The care and attention and love offered by the staff, surgeons and nurses at the hospital was overwhelming and we just felt it would be a great opportunity to say thank you for all the great work that they do not only for our little grandson but for all those children that benefit from their work.”
Tickets for the concert can be ordered online through eventbrite.com or can be purchased on the door.
