A CALL has gone out for ‘superheroes’ to don their costumes and brave a chilly dip in Newquay to raise funds for charity.

The 5th Annual Superhero swim in aid of Cancer Research UK is being staged at Towan Beach on Sunday, November 23 at 10am.

The event will be honouring the late Amy Gordon who started the fundraiser in 2020 to celebrate all the “superheroes” who are battling cancer.

The mum of four also organised the annual fundraiser to educate people on the importance of being cancer aware and to make a difference towards cancer care, treatment and prevention.

Debbie Ann, who is helping to organise this year’s superhero swim, said: “We need everyone to dress yourself up in their hero costumes and bring the brave as they prepare to run into the cold sea in the fight against cancer

“Everyone is welcome as we show our support to all of today’s heroes who are currently fighting against cancer and we celebrate those heroes who gave their best fight and who will remain in our hearts forever.

“We need cheer leaders as well as those who are braving the cold, come on down and show their support. Please bring some change and all money raised will be donated.”
