TRAINS on the Newquay branch line have been cancelled after a fault was discovered on the signalling system.

Services between Newquay Train Station and Par have been suspended following the fault in the Goonbarrow area.

National Rail has stated there will be no trains between Par and Newquay until “approximately 7.30pm.”

A spokesperson for National Rail said: “A fault with the signalling system between Par and Newquay means that the line is closed.

“As a result, trains running between these stations will be cancelled.”

A Great Western Railway spokesperson added: "We are working with Network Rail to be able to return to running our normal timetable as soon as possible."

Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "Service suspended on Great Western Railway between Par and Newquay due to problems with the signals."
