THE best skateboarders from around the UK are set to compete in Newquay.
Concrete Waves will be staging the Skateboard GB National Championship Park Discipline between Auhgust 15 and 17.
The three-day event will be one of the most important events in the skateboarding calendar and with skateboarders competing for £10,000 in cash prizes.
A spokesperson for Skateboard GB said: “Concrete Waves is one of the largest and well-known skateparks in the UK and the home to British Olympian, Lola Tambling.
“The park competitions takes place in a skatepark bowl, with athletes performing tricks out the top of the pool and on the coping surrounding it.
“Once again, the competition will feature the best skateboarders from across the UK, including members of the Skateboard GB national team, which will include Lola Tambling, Lilly Strachan and George O’Neill.
“There will be male and female events for both competitions, with equal prize money for each. There will be 50 competitors in total.
The event is free to attend and there will be free skateboard lessons all weekend provided by TR7 Skate in Newquay, as well as other activities around the skatepark.
“The timings, which are subject to change with weather are practice from 12pm to 6pm on Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturday and the competition will take place on the Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
“The competition is supported by the kind sponsorship from Samsung, Subway, Stance, Aquapax, Yeti.”
