RNLI lifeguards are being put through their paces in Newquay ahead of the new season.

Final preparations being made to open five Newquay beaches including Crantock, Fistral, Towan, Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth on Friday, April 3 from 10 and to 6pm.

Lifeguards are undertaking various training including rescue drills using the rescue water craft and all terrain vehicles, CPR and first aid.

A RNLI spokesperson said: “Training for the 2026 season is well underway.

“Lifeguard supervisors from around the South West completed their annual revaluations ready to welcome our lifeguard teams back for their inductions in a few weeks.

“We will be seeing people on the beach very soon. Stay safe.”
