After months of brushing up on his homework, Trevor Thorne has completed the training to qualify as deputy launching authority at Penlee Lifeboat Station – but he has another role too.

He is a Penzance-based artist who aims to support the lifeboat with a fund-raising sale of his art.

Trevor has a first class degree in fine art and history from the University of Leeds, and has recently completed the Mentoring Programme at Newlyn School of Art. Now his work will go on display at the Morvah Schoolhouse Gallery where 50 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the RNLI Penlee Lifeboat Station.

‘Newlyn Boats’ paintings depict fishing boats from the Newlyn fleet, ‘Time and Tide’ is an ongoing project showing the ageing processes of trawlers and fishing boats and ‘The Many Moods of Mounts Bay’ capture the drama, moods and colours of Mounts Bay across the seasons.

The show will be at the Morvah Schoolhouse Gallery (01736 787808)  from 11am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday, March 16-26.
