A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Penzance on Saturday.

The incident happened on Chyandour Cliff at the junction for Lannoweth Road shortly before 4pm.

The motorcyclist was taken to Treliske Hospital for treatment. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Police discovered a third vehicle was reported to have been involved in the incident following further investigation. The driver of the vehicle was arrested shortly after and has since been released under investigation.

A thorough investigation took place at the scene which meant that the road was closed for about five hours.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers are aware of comments being made on social media regarding the collision and individuals they suspect to be involved and would ask that people do not speculate on social media.”
