A YOUNG woman on cliffs at Mawgan Porth was brought to safety and detained under the Mental Health Act.

Newquay and Padstow Coastguard rescue teams, Newquay RNLI lifeboats, the police and ambulance service attended the incident at Trerathick Point on Monday, March 30 at 4.05pm.

The woman in her twenties was brought to safety around 4.30pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called following concern for the welfare of a woman on cliffs.

“She was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to a place of safety.”

A Newquay coastguard spokesperson said: “We were tasked to an incident between Mawgan Porth and Bedruthan Steps.

“All assets were stood down once the incident was resolved.”
