A vulnerable woman who was on the wrong side of the railings above a Newquay cliff was brought to safety by a member of the Coastguard in the early hours of Friday (August 15).
Members of Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team, police and ambulance attended the incident at Island Crescent at 2.30am.
A police spokesperson said: “Police were called following concern for the welfare of a woman in Newquay.
“The woman was on the wrong side of the railings at Island Crescent over the beach. HM Coastguard and ambulance also attended.
“The woman was brought to safety by HM Coastguard.
“She was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to a place of safety.”
A witness said: “Well done and thank you to the 14 people from the police, ambulance and HM Coastguard Search & Rescue who attended the incident at 3am on the cliff above Towan beach this morning.”
