A VULNERABLE man was brought to safety from a cliff edge in Newquay on Thursday afternoon (September 18).

Police, ambulance, the fire brigade and Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team attended the incident at the Barrowfields at 2.40pm. Officers brought the man back to safety around 3.05pm.

He was taken to Treliske Hospital and left in the care of health professionals.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “The team was tasked to assist the police and ambulance service with an incident on the Barrowfields. Shortly after arriving on scene the team were stood down.”

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called following concern for the welfare of a man near the cliff edge at Narrowcliff, Officers brought the man back to safety.”
