It has been confirmed that police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire in Narrowcliff on Tuesday, July 22 after it was confirmed that a body of a man in his 30s had been found deceased.

His death is currently being treated by investigators as unexplained but that at this stage, police are ‘keeping an open mind’.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire in Newquay earlier this week.

“Officers were called by the fire service to a fire at a residential property on Narrowcliff, Newquay, at around 4.35pm on Tuesday, July 22.

“Following enquiries to identify and locate next of kin, we can now confirm that the body of a man in his 30s was found deceased in the property.

“His next of kin have been informed.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but officers are keeping an open mind.

“Enquiries are ongoing and a police cordon remains in place at the scene.
