LIFEBOATS were launched to save a swimmer at Crantock Beach after they had been missing for around two hours.

The D Class followed and the Atlantic 85 B Class from Newquay Lifeboat Station attended the incident on Sunday, September 6, at about 7pm.

A spokesperson for Newquay Lifeboat Station said: “Newquay lifeboat volunteers were paged and tasked to assist in the search for an individual who had reportedly been swimming out towards Goose Rock and had been missing for around two hours.

“Both lifeboats were launched, with the charity’s D Class launching first, followed by the Atlantic 85 B Class lifeboat.

“The casualty was swiftly located on Goose Rock and welcomed the offer of assistance. They were safely taken back to Crantock Beach.”
