Eleven people, including children, were involved in a multi-vehicle collision on the A39 at Trispen yesterday, resulting in the road being closed for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called at 12.15pm on Sunday to a report of a road traffic collision involving six vehicles.

An 18-year-old male, the driver of a grey Vauxhall Astra, remains in Derriford Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Five people from other vehicles were taken to hospital with less serious injuries.

Police remained at the scene to carry out a detailed scene investigation whilst the road was closed.

Traffic heading to Truro from the A30 was subjected to a lengthy diversion to the new Chiverton interchange due to closures caused by ongoing roadworks on the dual carriageway.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has information which may assist the police, should contact 101 quoting log number 378 of 05/11/2023 or make a report via the force website.
