A man was rescued after he fell part way down a cliff attempting to recover their drone.

Newquay and Padstow Coastguard teams were scrambled to the incident, which happened at the Trevone Round Hole on Thursday, March 26 at 3.15pm.

HM Coastguard Padstow set up a rope rescue and lowered down a cliff technician to bring the man to safety. The man was uninjured.

A spokesperson for Padstow Coastguard said: “The team was tasked to reports of a person that had fallen down the round hole at Trevone.

“Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team were also tasked to assist.

“When the teams arrived on scene, the casualty was found to be stuck part way down the cliff after attempting to recover their drone.

“An immediate rope rescue was rigged, and a cliff technician was deployed. The casualty was then secured in a rescue strop to prevent them from falling.

“The rest of the team rigged the ropes for recovery and brought the technician and casualty back to a place of safety.

“The casualty was medically assessed and required no further assistance. They were offered safety advice and returned to their vehicle.”

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “We were tasked to assist HM Coastguard Padstow after a casualty had fallen at Trevone Round Hole.

“Padstow team carried out a technical rope rescue and retrieved the casualty safely to the top, uninjured.

“The Newquay team were stood down as they were arriving on scene. Great job Padstow.”
