FIRE crews were scrambled following a blaze at a holiday park in Mawgan Porth in the early hours of Sunday, April 5.

Appliances from Newquay, St Columb and Padstow attended The Park after a restaurant caught fire at about 2.30am. The building was “well alight” when fire crews arrived.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “One appliance from Newquay and one from St Columb initially responded to this incident, along with a wholetime officer.

“On arrival crews confirmed the building was well alight and made pumps three.

“An additional resource from Padstow was mobilised.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets extinguished the fire and continued to damp down.

“Handover form was completed and handed to the general manager on site.”
