EMERGENCY services were scrambled five times in the space of three days after concerns were raised for the welfare of people near cliffs in Newquay.
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist Devon & Cornwall Police after welfare concerns for a woman on a cliff in the Tolcarne Beach area on Tuesday, February 24 at 3.45pm.
She was located by officers and taken to a place of safety.
Newquay and St Agnes Coastguard rescue teams were tasked alongside HM Coastguard Padstow and Newquay RNLI Lifeboats to assist Devon & Cornwall Police following welfare concerns for a man reportedly on a cliff at the Barrowfields a short time later at 6.30pm. He was located by police officers and left in the care of health professionals.
The same emergency services were alerted at 11.15pm after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman on a cliff at the Barrowfields.
The woman was found and taken to a “safe location.”
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist the police and the ambulance service after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man in the Barrowfields area on Monday, February 23 at around 6.45pm. The man was located and left in the care of the ambulance service.
The police were also assisted by Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and the ambulance service following concern for the welfare of a woman on a cliff in the Barrowfields area on Sunday, February 22 at 9.30pm. The woman was found and taken to a place of safety.
A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “We were tasked to assist with a casualty on the Barrowfields. Once located, the team provided care and stayed with the casualty prior to handing them over to the ambulance service upon arrival.”
