MORE THAN 1,800 A Level, Vocational Diploma and T Level students are celebrating another record-breaking year at Truro and Penwith College.

With over 2,000 A-level entries – significantly more than any other provider in Cornwall – students achieved a 99 per cent pass rate and 172 A* grades, more than double the national average for General Further Education (GFE) colleges. A quarter of students achieved A*-A, 10 per cent above the GFE national average, while 56 per cent gained A*-B grades and 82 per cent A*-C – well above national benchmarks and higher than Cornwall and South West averages.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects set a benchmark for post-16 education, with further maths, chemistry, biology, physics, geology, electronics and environmental science all outperforming national averages.

An impressive 93 per cent of students have been placed on their first choice of degree level course, compared with the national average of 82 per cent. This includes 10 Oxbridge successes and more than 250 students securing Russell Group university offers.

Principal Martin Tucker said: “Our 2025 results are further evidence that Truro and Penwith College continues to set the standard for post-16 education in the region, offering a supportive and aspirational environment where students flourish both academically and personally.”

He paid tribute to “the passion, expertise, and dedication of our teaching staff, who go above and beyond to support every student”, adding: “It’s a huge congratulations to the students, who have done exceptionally well – I’m delighted for them and their families, and I look forward to hearing about their future successes.

“It’s so exciting to see people at the end of two years, opening an envelope to find their results. It’s what I went into education for, 41 years ago – to make a difference.”
