Tregolls Road in Truro was closed for much of the weekend after a tree fell from the grounds of the Alverton Hotel.
The roads from Trafalgar roundabout were gridlocked while Cornwall Council contractors Cormac mounted a clean up operation.
Emergency services were called out on Saturday evening when the tree fell across the northbound carriageway. The road was closed and diversions set up through Mitchell Hill.
On Sunday, Cormac moved in to start chopping the tree up.

A spokesperson for Cormac’s highways team said: “We received a report from the police on Saturday night that a very mature tree in the grounds of Alverton Manor had fallen across Tregolls Road.
“The eastbound road was closed for public safety until arborists could safely start to dismantle the tree in daylight the following morning.
“Works to dismantle continued for much of Sunday and the road was reopened late in the afternoon.”
