There was joy and prayers when David Williams was officially installed as Bishop of Truro in a service at Truro Cathedral on Saturday [May 17].

As tradition dictates, Bishop David knocked at the front door of the cathedral, asking to be let in to take part in the ceremony. He was presented with his robes in front of a packed congregation, which included Truro and Falmouth MP Jayne Kirkham, Cornwall’s Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff, clergy from across the Duchy, worshippers and schoolchildren.

As the Church of England's leader in Cornwall, Bishop David now leads around 300 churches. He takes over the position from Philip Mounstephen, who became Bishop of Winchester in 2023, and Hugh Nelson, Bishop of St Germans and Acting Diocesan Bishop.
