Are you passionate about serving your community and interested in influencing decisions that will shape your town? St Austell Town Council is looking to fill two Town Councillor vacancies in its Bethel & Holmbush and Poltair & Mount Charles Wards, respectively.  

These two openings will be filled by co-option at the Council meeting on Monday 6th November 2023. If you are interested in the role, you’re invited to apply by 3pm on Friday 27th October 2023.  

What does St Austell Town Council do? 

St Austell Town Council plays a crucial role as the most local form of government, dedicated to serving and representing the town’s residents and electors with its wide and varied powers.  

St Austell Town Council’s services include: 

  • Allotments  

  • St Austell Library  

  • The House Youth Centre  

  • Parks, play areas, and open spaces  

  • Grass cutting for Cornwall Council on highways and residential areas 

  • Priory and Tregonissey Lane End car parks 

  • Town centre CCTV 

  • Priory Car Park public conveniences

Beyond these services, St Austell Town Council also plays a crucial role in local consultations. This involves engaging with Cornwall Council on key issues such as waste management, tourism, education, and transport. The Council also actively participates in planning and policy consultations for the parish and local area, to make sure the community's best interests are represented. 

From a broader perspective, the Town Council provides input for government consultations regarding laws that could affect the town’s future.
