Bodmin Town 0 St Blazey 6

Andy Watkins marked his first start for St Blazey with a hat-trick as Bodmin were swept aside at Priory Park on Friday night.

Luke Cloke scored two and substitute Rio Ward added the other as Blazey closed the gap on leaders Wendron United to eight points with four games in hand.

Cloke opened the scoring in the 20th minute, turning past a Bodmin defender before firing low past goalkeeper Ryan Rickard.

Watkins opened his account with a 31st minute penalty and rounded off a hugely impressive first half from the visitors by making it 3-0 seconds from the break with a free header from Cloke's cross from the right.

Joe Cooper headed against the bar five minutes into the second half but Cloke was on hand to head the ball into the net to extend Blazey's lead.

And Watkins completed his hat-trick after 59 minutes, getting onto the end of a superb move to fire the ball low past Rickard into the net.

Ward, who replaced Kyle Marks on the hour, brought fresh legs to the right side of Blazey's attack and after spurning one chance, he took the second with a fine finish to make it 6-0 with 13 minutes to go.

Ward then laid a golden chance on a plate for another substitute, Sam Buckley, but almost on the goal line the youngster lifted the ball over the bar.

Blazey goalkeeper Shaun Semmens, who had had virtually nothing to do all game, was still alert to pull off a magnificent save to deny Danny Zalick a consolation for Bodmin in the 89th minute.

Not to be outdone, a minute later at the other end, Bodmin keeper Rickard flew through the air to spectacularly tip over a rasping shot from substitute Liam Eddy.
