A social football group in Cornwall is proving a success since launching last month.
United Cornwall FC run a session and Monday evenings at Camborne Academy, which are organised by Grow Cornwall – a community interest company which is developing outdoor sessions for Cornwall’s communities to come together to grow.
The idea is to create safe spaces for communities to come together to work on their wellbeing.
Jack Greaves from Grow Cornwall said: “Whether individuals come along to improve their mental health, lose some weight or just blow of some steam doesn’t matter to us.
“These sessions are for everyone and we have a right mix of ages and abilities coming along.
“In four weeks we have had over 20 players, ranging from a grandad and his two sons, to a policeman, marketing professionals and builders.”
He added: “At 51 it’s fantastic to get the opportunity to enjoy a social game of football and meet some great people.”
The group are keen to attract even more players to the session.
They are held between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on the multi-use games area at Camborne Academy and people attending are asked to just pay what they can afford.
