Cornish Multi-Terrain Race Series latest by David Sillifant
TRURO Running Club’s Steve Reynolds was the winner of the Tywarnhayle 10K race on Sunday, October 4.
His time of 40:04 saw him edge out Ryan Hanley (41:17) by over a minute, while the Royal Navy’s Sam Hammond (41:40) took third.
The event itself takes in the coastpath around Chapel Porth and back towards Porthtowan before a loop around Tywarnhayle mine.
The ladies’ race saw Eleanor Davis finish in a rapid time of 43:18 to take the title by over seven minutes from Cornwall AC’s Chloe Clarke (50:11), while Perran Trail Runners’ Ellie Jameson (51:21) took third by just under a minute from Sophie Auster.
On the team front, Perran Trail Runners took the ladies crown with 60 points, just three clear of host club Truro (63) with St Austell (82) third, while Truro’s four-person tally of 36 was enough for a comfortable victory from Hayle (74) and Perran Trail Runners (107).

St Blazey and District Snooker League latest by Geoff Hawken
TREGONISSEY A beat St Neot by four frames to one to top the Victory League last Tuesday night.
Jason Cocks knocked in a 48 break against Steve Courts to start the ball rolling, while there were also wins for Kevin Harris, Geoff Merriman and Andrew Gooch.
Bethel A picked up an odd frame win at Bugle to go second as Paul Baron made a superb 45 clearance when beating Dave Rundle in the opening frame. Mark Ashton and Garry Stephens were also victorious in their victory.
Mevagissey B continued their good start as Ben Rothwell, despite a 31 from Chris Brown, Mark Gregory, Nathan Shaw and Matt Rowe all won at St Blazey A with Stuart Dewings replying.
Pelynt enjoyed a 4-1 win at home to St Blazey B with Jamie Daniell having a 34 break when beating Ian Millward. Paul Woodman, Phil Ormond and Len Flower were also successful.
In the last frame, Josh Bristow had a 30 when beating Richard Broad for the away side’s solitary point
Luxulyan B top the Rees League after getting all five frames at home to Tregonissey C. Kyle Bennetts, Simon Johnson, Steve Vicary, Keith Remphry and Kevin Spencer all winning despite the majority of the frames being close.
Tregonissey B found form at Gorran Haven in taking four frames. Matt Fox got the home team off to a good start by beating Jowan Truman, but wins for Nate Taylor, Chris Witcombe, Ryan Taylor (on the black over Rob Bunney) and Mark Luczynski sealed their first win of the season.
Elsewhere, Bethel B beat Lerryn by the odd frame to keep their hands on the Runabout Shield as Les Shakespeare and James Stephens took the away points with Roy Bayliss, Craig Nicholls and Darren Biggen successful for the home side.
