LADIES’ SECTION

TUESDAY, April 21 saw the ladies tee up to compete in the first-round of the Singer Cup. This is an eclectic competition where the aim is to better the score in the second round. Abi Crosswood led the field after the first round with a nett 71 with Fiona Pocklington and Debbie Cain hot on her heels with a nett 72.

Carol Sparrow took the honours in the nine-hole Stableford with 23 points, while Joyce Cain was second with 21 points on count-back from Gail Hicks.

The following Tuesday saw the ladies compete in the second round of the Singer Cup.

In second place with a nett 69 was last week's frontrunner Abi Crosswood, but the winner, knocking 18 shots off her earlier score was Annie Lobb with nett 67. Not only that but she had a ‘hole-in-one’ on the seventh. Drinks all round were the order of the day.

In the nine-hole Stableford, Anne Poole was first with an outstanding 29 points. Eileen Phipps was second with an equally impressive 26 and Bridie Jones had 25 points.

Not so good for the ladies was an away loss in the league match on April 27 against Trevose.
