TRURO City kick off their new season in National League South tomorrow when they play host to Welling United at Bolitho Park (3pm).
The White Tigers were promoted at the end of last season, and manager Paul Wotton knows they face a tough campaign back in the higher tier.
However, they have come through their pre-season programme unbeaten, and have made some useful additions to their squad.
Wotton said: “It is a huge challenge for us and it is going to be extremely difficult, and we know we are going to have to be at our best every single week.
“But it is a challenge we are really looking forward to.
“The guys have earned the right to play in this division after last season, and it is a great opportunity for us to go and show what we are all about.”
Truro have made seven new signings. Midfielders Dan Rooney and Billy Palfrey have both returned from Plymouth Parkway while defender James Melhado has signed from Salford City.
Ryan Law has rejoined on a permanent deal from Plymouth Argyle, young striker Obed Yeboah has arrived from AFC Wimbledon after a successful trial, and defender Sam Sanders has joined on a six-month loan deal from York City.
The final new recruit through the door was the permanent signing of midfielder Adam Porter following his release from Salford City.
This will be City’s first game back in the National League South since April 2019 when they drew 3-3 with Slough Town at Treyew Road as their relegation to the Southern League Premier South was confirmed.
Welling are beginning a new era under their new manager Danny Bloor, who was appointed in June.
The Wings finished 16th in National League South last season, 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
Bloor will be hoping to hit the ground running with his new-look squad, with a large number of players making their league debuts.
Bloor told the Welling club website: “They’re a good side. We had them watched and they’re going to be strong. They’re at home and their home record has been good.
“We don’t know a lot about them and they won’t know a lot about us, it’s two new sides and it’s going to be enjoyable.
“We’re looking forward to it and I’m sure they will be, too.”
Tickets prices are: Adults £11, Concessions £9, Under-16s £6, Under-10s free.
