South West Peninsula League Premier West round-up – Saturday, November 1

LEADERS Liskeard Athletic overcame a stubborn Callington Town side to remain six points clear of Elburton Villa at the top of the table.

The Blues fell behind 15 minutes in when Calum Courts slotted home, but were level within two minutes when Harry Jeffery slotted home a spot-kick.

Cally deserved a point but were undone 13 minutes from time when Josh McCabe swept in Max Gilbert’s free-kick.

Elburton, who have a game in-hand on the Blues, thrashed Wendron United 5-1 at Haye Road.

The Villa fell behind early on, but were ahead by half-time thanks to goals from Sam Leary, Sam Hughes and Connor Rush, and continued on after the break with Callum Merrin and man-of-the-match James Hamson rounding off the scoring.

At the bottom, Dobwalls stay at the foot of the table after losing 2-1 at home to Sticker.

The visitors went ahead within a minute of the restart thanks to Sam Eccleston, and although Kieran Owen levelled on the hour, Connor Cooke got the winner 10 minutes from time.

They stay a point behind Truro City Reserves who led 2-0 at the break before conceding four unanswered goals to Millbrook who saw Will Larsen and Lee Robinson at the double.

Falmouth Town Reserves’ superb season continued as they won 5-2 at Camelford who saw Joseph Parr give them a fifth minute lead.

It was 3-1 by the 20th minute with Kane Thomas, Sam Buckley and Reece Carroll all on target before Ryan Downing halved the deficit soon after.

Thomas scored just before the break and then got his hat-trick midway through the second half.
