BOTH Falmouth Town and Mousehole had a mixed week in Southern League Division One South.
Falmouth – badly needing a win after a tough start to the season, welcomed bottom side Tavistock on Tuesday night and ran out 4-1 winners.
Oscar Massey put them ahead inside seven minutes before Ollie Evans doubled the lead with just 19 minutes on the clock.
Massey was again in the right place to make it 3-0 just three minutes after the break, before visiting captain Ben Cross reduced the arrears just before the hour (58).
But any hopes of an unlikely Lambs comeback were ended by Rubin Wilson midway through the half.
Mousehole edged a five-goal thriller at promoted Brixham on the same evening to record a sixth win of the season.
Two goals in two minutes from Liam Prynn and Jack Symons gave the Seagulls a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes, however the Fishermen responded via Jaden Maslen (30) and Aaron Wellington (39).
But the visitors, who were indebted to some fine goalkeeping from Ollie Chenoweth to keep it level, won it just after the hour through veteran frontman Mark Goldsworthy.
Mid-table Mousehole were unable to back that result up on Saturday as title-chasing Bishops Cleeve left West Cornwall with a 1-0 success.
Toby Holland got the all-important breakthrough on 61 minutes as the Cornish side remain 12th in the 22-team division, seven points clear of the bottom four.
Falmouth were left rueing a remarkable late comeback from Larkhall Athletic in Wiltshire on Saturday, a result which leaves Andy Westgarth’s side just two points clear of fourth bottom Bashley, albeit with a game in-hand.
Rubin Wilson’s hat-trick (12, 28 and 66) had the Amber and Blacks 3-0 up, but once Alexander Camm reduced the arrears on 85 minutes, injury-time efforts from Kieran Phillips (92) and Henry Westlake (94) broke Falmouth hearts.
