EMIRATES FA CUP EXTRA PRELIMINARY ROUND

Tavistock 0 St Blazey 0

ST BLAZEY will host fellow Western League outfit Tavistock in a replay on Wednesday evening (7.30pm) following a goalless draw in Devon on Saturday.

Blazey had won three from three to start the season, but were under the cosh early on.

They should have fell behind just after the half-hour when the hosts were awarded a penalty, however Kyle Moore saved from Shane White. At the other end, striker Kai Burrell was denied by home keeper Dan Holman.

The Cornishmen were much improved in the second half, but despite getting into a series of promising positions were unable to take their chances. Amongst those to miss or be denied were second half sub Olly Redd and Burrell, while midfielder Tallan Mitchell should have done better when well-placed on the edge of the home area.

Blazey were also denied a winner in the second stanza when centre-half Aaron Bentley saw a header cleared off the line by Reece Shanley.

Reflecting on the game, Blazey boss Dan Hart said: “Tavistock started the game well, particularly in the first 25 minutes or so, and we needed a fine save from Kyle.

“However, I felt it was all us in the second half as we attacked with pace. We looked fitter and stronger than them and had four or five clear chances to win it, but it wasn’t to be.

“But Wednesday is an exciting game and also perhaps will give some players some rhythm ahead of Saturday’s home tie with Launceston in the FA Vase.”

ST BLAZEY: Kyle Moore; Will Tinsley (capt), Aaron Bentley, Jordan Bentley, Jack Calver (Todd Hanrahan); Tallan Mitchell, Joe Cook (Sam Clifton), Ben Fowles; Cam Hutchison (Tom Cavanagh), Kai Burrell, Harry Blows (Olly Redd).

Blazey man-of-the-match: Kyle Moore/Tallan Mitchell.
