St Blazey 4 Brislington 0
ST BLAZEY ended a seven-game run without a win in spectacular style on Saturday when they swept aside Brislington at Blaise Park.
Midfielder Rio Daly’s 20th minute opener was followed by three goals in the second half from Teigan Rosenquest (48), Ross Willcock (55) and Callum McGhee (66).
Just as pleasing for the Green and Blacks was their second clean sheet of the season, having conceded a concerning 12 goals in the last three games.
It was also Blazey’s first win of the season in front of their own supporters at the sixth time of asking, which included defeat to Buckland Athletic in the FA Cup on August 2.
After the midweek 3-1 home defeat by Ivybridge Town, the Green and Blacks brought in right-back Max Cook on loan from Mousehole, and promoted striker Ross Willcock from the second team.
Blazey have struggled at right-back since Will Tinsley’s early season injury setback, while they have looked short of options in attack; Cook and Willcock certainly made the difference against Brislington.
Manager Mark Carter said: “After a few incredibly difficult weeks, yesterday’s performance was a really welcome boost. I knew a result like that was coming at some point, but I’m relieved it came sooner rather than later.
“From the moment the lads walked into the changing room, you could tell they were up for it. All over the pitch, we were better organised and worked hard for each other as a team.
“Rossy stepped up from the second team and was a constant nuisance up front, capping off his performance with a well-deserved goal.
“Teigan also continued his outstanding form out wide, which gave us another edge going forward.”
ST BLAZEY: Kyle Moore, Max Cook, Tom Hensman, Charlie Hambly (capt), Jordan Bentley, Rio Daly, Callum McGhee, Sam Clifton, Ross Willcock, Tyler Elliott, Teigan Rosenquest. Subs: Brad Rowe, Will Tinsley, Alfie Fothergill, Mac Dewsnap (gk).

Bridgwater United 3 Helston Athletic 2
HELSTON fell to their second defeat in four days as they were narrowly beaten 3-2 at Bridgwater United on Saturday.
The hosts have stated their ambitions to get back up to Step Four in the not too distant future, while the Cornish side were at that level last term.
Helston travelled having lost 2-0 at home to 10-man Torpoint in midweek and found themselves a goal down inside three minutes as debutant Jayden Nielsen broke down the left before firing past Morgan Jones.
Nielsen turned provider on 15 minutes for Ryan Guppy to make it 2-0, before Olly Redd’s penalty (36) reduced the arrears going into half-time.
But the two-goal lead was restored on 57 minutes when Chris Manangu poked home from a corner.
Helston refused to lie down and grabbed a second four minutes from time via Max Hill, before missing a big opportunity late on when a one-on-one was saved.
To make matters worse, a huge penalty shout for handball was turned down in injury-time as they headed back to Cornwall with nothing to show for their efforts.
HELSTON ATHLETIC: Morgan Jones; Tom Whipp, Jake Warman, Max Hill, Connor Paine, Olly Redd, Liam Eddy, Matt Searle, Rocco Hill, Jude Tripconey. Subs: Freddie Kemp, Blake Gordon-Dunn, George Marris, Josh Daniel, Ed Timmons.
