NEWQUAY skipper Adam Cocking broke the club record for centuries with his 10th as the coastal outfit withstood a riveting comeback from Roche in the local derby at the Sports Centre.
The number three made 106 from 104 balls as the town outfit were dismissed for 211 in the 47th over.
He shared vital stands with Callan Jenkin (23), Adam Jenkin (24) and Toby Chillingworth as Archie Green’s 5-26 kept the innings in check.
Roche were floundering at 97-6 with Liam Phillips out for 31 before Ryan Clark (55) was joined by the hard-hitting George Oakley.
Clark went at 132-7 to Aussie Toby Chilingworth (3-54), but Oakley went into over-drive, hammering 11 fours and three sixes in a brutal 77.
But with just 11 required, he was sent back by Green and failed to get in as Newquay secured a fifth win of the season.
CAMBORNE are within a point of leaders Beacon despite both sides emerging victorious.
While Beacon could only muster 17 points at Falmouth, the hosts romped to a 170-run success over visiting Paul at Warrior Park.
Camborne amassed a hefty 313-5, led by Aussie Josh Fontana’s 122.
He shared a second-wicket stand of 169 with skipper Alfie MacDonald who made 91.
Danuka Dilshan (33) and Liam Weeks (24no) took them beyond 300 as only Damon Nicholls (1-29) and Matthew Skewes (0-38) kept things tight.
Paul were shot out for just 143 in reply.
Andrew Snell (27), Ben Brooks (20) and Ross Williams (17) got starts before Charlie Goldsworthy (41) was the last man to go as Dan Stephens (3-26), Jacob MacDonald (2-34), Will MacDonald (2-28) and Jamie Goldsworthy (2-8) shared nine wickets.
Beacon were also in the runs at Falmouth.
Jordan Thomas’ 100 not out saw the champions post 298-4 with Sam James (58) and Stephen Wiseman providing solid support. George Eccleston (2-38) kept things tight.
Falmouth’s batsmen responded with 206-5 as Harry Phillpot (44), Adrian Noott (52) and Ben Coston (33) got stuck in. Ben James (2-32) and Callum Edgecombe (2-34) shared four wickets.
Hayle are six points off top spot after thrashing visiting St Erme by eight wickets.
St Erme gave debuts to new overseas player Rakesh Seecharan from Trinidad and Tinodaishe Machaka.
St Erme were well-placed at 126-3 with Kyle Van Rooyen on 75, but once he was caught behind, they stumbled to 183 all-out with Seecharan and Machaka making just eight and nought respectively.
Change bowlers Dan Lello (2-30) and Nate Wiggins (2-32) were the pick of the bowlers.
Seecharan’s (1-29) left-arm spin accounted for Wiggins (10), but Aizaz Ahmed (75) and Dan Lello (65no) put on 87 to take the game away from the visitors.
Perranporth remain fourth after a six-wicket success at home to mid-table St Austell Seconds.
The visitors made 206 all out from their 50 overs.
Five batsmen – Steve Raven (28), James Carter (26), Jonathan Grey (27), Tom Rosevear (28) and Spencer Bist (24) passed 20, but the Pilchards took wickets at regular intervals.
The chase was then dominated by Kiwi Thomas Bradburn who made 107 not out from just 100 balls.
Harry Watkins (28) and Cameron Bishop (31) provided the initial support before 13 apiece from Travis Woolston and Josh Anderson got them over the line with more than 13 overs to spare.
