Cornwall Football Association has confirmed it will be launching an investigation this week into the abandonment of the South West Peninsula League match between St Blazey and Bude Town on Saturday.

Match referee Murat Kaymaz brought proceedings to an end in the 62nd minute of the premier west division game at Blaise Park shortly after showing red cards to Bude joint managers Ben Potter and Josh Allen.

St Blazey were leading 1-0 at the time thanks to a Jed Smale goal in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the first half.

In a statement issues this morning, Cornwall FA said: "We are aware that the St Blazey v Bude Town game in the South West Peninsula League on Saturday 18th February was abandoned in the second half.

"We will be seeking observations from the match officials and conducting an investigation into the reasons for the abandonment.

"Once the investigation is complete a decision will be made on how to proceed and whether charges need to be issued."

The South West Peninsula League issued a statement on Twitter on Sunday evening saying: "The match is neither counted nor re-scheduled at this time; the disciplinary department of County FA (CCFA in this case) will gather evidence and determine charges.

"Anyone charged has the right to respond (time limits apply).

"When charges are dealt with and CCFA conclude their part, the league board will then (depending on outcome) reschedule or award the points, based on the outcome of those charges.

"Stats from the game remain on file and pending."
