AS a dedicated local councillor, my recent activities in the St Mewan and Grampound division have been both varied and demanding, reflecting the diverse concerns of my constituents.
I recently participated in a licensing sub-committee meeting, where I successfully advocated for an extended licence for a local nightclub. After careful consideration, I supported the proposal, believing it would benefit the community, and I was pleased to see it approved.
In Sticker, speeding issues continue to dominate discussions. I have been working closely with residents to address these concerns, engaging with relevant authorities to explore effective solutions.
Similarly, in Polmassick, persistent flooding has been a pressing issue. By liaising with the highways department, I secured an earlier than scheduled de-silting of a bridge, a critical intervention given the heavy rainfall this season. This action has provided much-needed relief to affected residents.
Elsewhere, I have been responding to complaints about exotic birds causing a nuisance by wandering into gardens and fouling private property, including vehicles. While the situation is delicate, I am working to find a balanced resolution that respects both the residents’ concerns and the welfare of the animals.
My regular attendance at parish council meetings remains a priority, allowing me to stay attuned to community issues and ensure they are addressed promptly. At County Hall, full council meetings have been a platform for discussing significant motions and decisions.
Additionally, I have been involved in complex enforcement cases, including one involving significant mental health challenges. These cases require sensitivity and diligence, and I am committed to supporting all parties involved.
My role as a councillor is to serve and represent my community, and I remain steadfast in addressing these multi-faceted issues with care and determination.
