THE estate time forgot – a call for action in Trenarren View and Hallane Road.
For too long, the residents of Trenarren View and Hallane Road have faced neglect, their estates marred by overgrown verges, weed-strewn paths and inadequate maintenance. Despite paying full council tax, their pleas to Cornwall Council have gone largely unheeded. I’ve been working closely with these communities to restore the pride and care their neighbourhoods deserve.
A recent site visit with Cormac representatives laid bare the extent of the issues. Grass cutting, limited to a six-week cycle, leaves amenity areas and playgrounds overgrown and, until recently, unusable. Footways are choked by weeds and hedges, hindering access.
Drainage problems persist, with a recent water leak at Hallane Road only just resolved. Accessibility is further compromised by missing drop kerbs and the absence of regular sweeping. The lack of bins and basic signage, such as “no dogs” notices at the playground, exacerbates litter and recycling issues.
Residents of Hallane Road report that Cornwall Council once maintained the grass but later attributed responsibility to the original developer, leaving the community in limbo. This is unacceptable.
In response, I’m championing a place-based approach to address these concerns collectively. A Cormac representative has pledged to liaise with relevant services and develop an action plan. Discussions with Treverbyn Parish Council are under way to install a bin at Hallane Road’s entrance, a small but vital step forward.
These estates deserve better. I am committed to securing lasting solutions that bring fairness and vitality to Trenarren View, Hallane Road, and the wider Penwithick and Boscoppa community. If you share these concerns or wish to contribute, please contact me.
