CONSTANTINE Bay, popular with experienced surfers, features today as the Voice continues its serialisation of the travel book, Cornwall Favourites For One And All!: A Quick Guide To Good Places To Visit Across The County.

Voice journalist Andrew Townsend, the author of the book, says: “Having previously visited the superb south and wonderful west of the county, we are now following the naturally-beautiful north coast of Cornwall.

‘This coast has plenty to offer visitors with resorts including Newquay and Perranporth, both known for their surfing. Away from the towns, there is the amazing coastal scenery including the spectacular Bedruthan Steps.”

Constantine Bay, around the corner from Treyarnon Bay, is known for the good waves it produces for surfers. However, because of the nature of the bay, with its rip currents, hidden rocks and shelving shoreline, only experienced surfers should attempt to ride these waves.

There is much else for visitors to enjoy, though, with soft sand to lie on, rockpools and sand dunes to explore, and paths to stroll along.

Constantine Bay is also home to the Trevose Golf & Country Club, a fine links course.

You can walk from Constantine Bay around to the neighbouring beach at Booby’s Bay and then on to Trevose Head with its sheer, gigantic cliffs.

The lighthouse at Trevose Head was built in the middle of the 19th century and its light can be seen off much of the length of the North Cornwall coast.

Next time, we will be on the fabulous sandy beaches of Harlyn Bay and will also be visiting the impressive Trevone Round Hole.

Our lovely tour around the county, taking in well-known spots but also lesser-known locations, offers something for everyone, from brilliant beaches, remote moorland, storm-beaten cliffs and scenic rivers to historic towns, pretty villages, mining heritage sites and visitor attractions.
