RIDERS from Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) recently celebrated a string of equestrian successes.

While the CSIA showjumping team were scooping up wins and podium finishes at this year’s Cornish Schools & Colleges Team Show Jumping Competition, another rider was sealing her spot at next year’s NSEA National Eventers Challenge Championship at Hickstead.

The school’s equestrian team galloped to glory with an outstanding set of results at the showjumping contest hosted by the Western Pony Club at Pendarves Equestrian Centre on November 16.

In the Open 80–85cm section, Evie M took the individual win with a double clear delivered in the fastest time of the day. Teammate Lexie R also completed a double clear to place third.

The Open Team finished second overall in the jumping and second in tack and turnout. Riding at this height for the first time, Lottie T produced a confident round, incurring just four faults on her debut at this level.

Results were similarly positive in the Novice section, where Daisy H secured first place individually with a double clear in the fastest time recorded. The Novice team placed fifth in tack and turnout. The other team members, Kiera S, Martha H, Isla M, Thomas R, Evie R and Poppy H, also won praise for their strong performances.

That same day, Amber J secured her place at the national finals after securing qualification with a successful outing in the qualifiers held at Devon’s Bicton Arena.

Riding in both the 80cm and 90cm classes, Amber produced composed and accurate rounds over the technical Bicton course. Her performance in the 80cm class secured qualification for Hickstead, a notable achievement given the level of competition.

Amber is set to travel to Hickstead in May and may be accompanied by other CSIA riders, who will have further opportunities to qualify at events in February and March.

Emma Haase, principal of CSIA, said: “The whole team represented the school brilliantly, showing great skill, determination and sportsmanship. I’m so proud of them all.

“A special congratulations to Amber, whose hard work has earned her a well-deserved place at Hickstead. We hope more of our young riders will join her there in May.”
