PLANS to create extra parking as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro scheme are due to get underway.
Tolcarne car park improvement works are earmarked to start on January 12 and will take around six weeks to complete.
Sixty-three spaces are being created changing Tolcarne coach car park to a standard pay and display car park.

The scheme is part of Cornwall Council’s plans to create 74 new parking spaces after giving the go ahead to controversially remove 19 short term parking spaces in Cliff Road to make way for a cycle lane to make the roads leading to and around Newquay Train Station safer for walkers and cyclists.
The Tolcarne car park improvement works will include resurfacing the car park, installing new kerbing to clearly define pedestrian and vehicle routes, relocating an existing lamppost to improve pedestrian access and applying new road markings to create designated parking spaces.
The council is proposing the car park will be free before 9am and after 5pm and free during the winter period.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said: “Once complete coach parking will be located at the front of the car park, with car parking positioned towards the rear.
“There may be some short-term disruption for nearby users, but this is expected to be minimal. There may be a slight increase in site traffic for deliveries, and they will manage these promptly to avoid queuing on the highway.
“Every effort will be made to maintain safe access and minimise inconvenience throughout the works.”
There will be a further eight on-street parking spaces created on Oakleigh Terrace, which will allow free parking for up to an hour, and three new disabled parking bays on Cliff Road outside Wetherspoons.
Cornwall Council plan to widen the current footways on Cliff Road with a dedicated segregated cycle lane, and a new pedestrian crossing built outside Rebellion.
The bus stops will be improved and extended and the loading bays relocated. There will also be extended free parking at Newquay Railway Station from 20 minutes to 30 minutes.
