A WOMAN was rescued from the sea in Newquay after concerns were raised for her welfare.

Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, Devon and Cornwall Police, Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team and the ambulance service were tasked to the incident at Towan Beach on Wednesday, February 4, at 11.20pm. Police officers “guided her” from the water.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called following concern for the welfare of a woman in the sea at Newquay.

“HM Coastguard and ambulance also attended.

“The woman was brought to safety and left in the care of health professionals.”

A Newquay Coastguard spokesperson said: “Coastguard Rescue Team, Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, Devon and Cornwall Police were tasked to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with an incident on Towan Beach.

“Shortly after arriving on scene the team were stood down as the incident had been resolved.”
