After many years of service on the committee of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows, West Cornwall husband and wife Lance and Della English are finally retiring.

Their membership of the Oddfellows Friendly Society, which extends back over 50 years, will be continuing though, and so their association with the organisation will endure.

Lance and Della, who live in Carbis Bay and are both keen gardeners, were presented with a selection of perennial plants, planter and a thank you card to mark the occasion.

Bro Bill Cook, the Oddfellows provincial grand master said: “Lance and Della have served the society loyally down the years and have brought much valued experience to the management of the district.

“I am very grateful to both of them for their stalwart commitment and those elected to replace them now have some fairly large shoes to fill.”

Bro Lance thanked the society for their kind words and gifts and added: “Della and I have been members for many years and our association as proud members of the Friendly Society will continue.”
