The latest meeting of Foresters Friendly Society Court 3754 Pendennis in west Cornwall was hailed as a huge success, with a warm and celebratory atmosphere throughout.
The highlight of the evening was the surprise presentation of the 2025 “Making a Positive Difference Award” to Mike Chappell, assistant secretary of Court Pendennis and recently appointed Devon and Cornwall area chief ranger.
Mike received a cut-glass trophy, certificate, and £100 cheque, recognising his outstanding dedication to the Foresters community.
Since joining just a few years ago, Mike has embraced multiple roles - junior beadle, press officer, social media manager, and now assistant secretary - making a significant impact across the Devon and Cornwall Courts.
Humble in his acceptance, he dedicated the award to “all those who work so hard in the Court and wider Area.”
The evening also celebrated the efforts of Joan Thomas, Chief Ranger of Cornwall’s other Foresters Court, whose fundraising raffle for Cornwall Hospice Care raised £67, bringing her total campaign contribution to £677.
Following a concise business agenda, members enjoyed a convivial social gathering with a wide selection of savoury and sweet refreshments, perfectly closing a memorable evening for Court Pendennis.
