A vintage drinks can has been discovered during a beach clean in Newquay.
An original Jolly’s Sparkling Orangeade can dating back more than 40 years was found by the Fistral Beach Clean Team preserved in the sand dunes.
Andy Goodall, who helps organise the beach cleans, promptly contacted Jolly’s to share the exciting find.
Jolly’s managing director Cheryl Ingram said: “You couldn’t make it up.
“I was in our factory signing off the design of our new Sparkling Orange can when Andy got in touch. I was stunned. None of us realised Jolly’s had previously produced a Sparkling Orange drink, as it had long been discontinued and forgotten.
“We now have the vintage can proudly on display – it’s like our history was calling out to us at just the right moment.”
Andy said: “During the group’s beach clean at Fistral Beach, Newquay the can was spotted in the sand dunes.
“Many of us remember Jolly’s from when we were young, and it’s still a staple here in Cornwall.
“The can was surprisingly well-preserved, with a distinctive retro design.
“We were delighted when Jolly’s wanted to reclaim this piece of their history. They generously provided us with a supply of their new Sparkling Orange drink as a thank you and to keep us refreshed on our beach cleans.”
