A man remains in a critical condition and two men have been arrested in connection to a violent incident in Redruth on Thursday.

Police were called to the area of Drump Road, Redruth at around 6.30pm following a report of a serious assault within a property in the area.

One man sustained a gunshot wound to the back which is currently being treated as life-threatening injury.

He remains in intensive care in a critical condition.

A second man was assaulted with was weapon and sustained a head injury; his injuries are not as serious as first feared and he has since been released from hospital.

Ian Thompson who is the Superintendent for West Cornwall, said: “There has been a major policing response to yesterday’s incident and the residents of Redruth can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area for the coming days.

“Our proactive enquires have so far resulted in a man in his 40s from Redruth and a man in his 30s from Camborne both being arrested overnight on suspicion of attempted murder; both remain in police custody and await questioning.

“Whilst we believe this is an isolated matter where those involved are known to each other, it is vital that the public work with us and share information.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam, doorbell or CCTV footage of the area on Thursday afternoon that could assist us with our enquiries.”
