Nearly 1,000 trees were given last weekend to people living in Camborne as part of Forest for Cornwall’s Back Garden Tree Giveaway.

Community groups, farmers, landowners, businesses and individuals are being encouraged to help plant trees to absorb carbon emissions, boost nature recovery and improve the places where people live.

Camborne Town Council hosted the event at The Basset Centre and handed out the best part of 1,000 trees as well as raising nearly £100 for the town’s youth council.

Santa paid a visit and there were also workshops including children’s crafting, embroidery and wreath making.

A town council spokesperson said: “A big thank you to the town councillors, youth councillors, staff, and volunteers who have worked their Christmas stockings off to deliver for our community.”
